The 366 players at PMPT #38 brought 84 different archetypes to the table, creating one of the most diverse metas of the season. They battled through seven rounds of Swiss play plus single-elimination top cut in pursuit of the $100 prize. With such variety in the field, consistency and tight sequencing ruled the day.

TB Popay matched that same 12-2-0 record on Mega Lucario ex but fell in the top cut, while BeachBoy's Mega Altaria ex Espeon showed impressive consistency with just one Swiss loss to finish 12-1-0. The FrogEX squad had a strong showing too, with two team members piloting Mega Sceptile ex Greninja into placements 6 and 7.

Miraidon ex Magnezone commanded the meta with 46 pilots and a 12.6% share, but its 50% win rate kept it from being a standout performer. The real winners were the decks punching above their weight: Mega Blaziken ex Greninja led all archetypes with a 57.8% win rate, while Suicune ex Baxcalibur and Greninja Mega Sableye ex also impressed with 54.1% and 54.9% respectively. Meanwhile, Mega Gardevoir ex Gardevoir and Indeedee ex Giratina ex both struggled to find their rhythm.
